Another Year

On this quiet winter night, snow shimmers as it flies

You are in my mind, laughing, ever-wise

I may not always stay in touch, too much gets in the way

But as New Year rolls around, my friend I’d like to say:

If my old car can make it through another year

I’ll be at your fire, singing loud and clear

I may not always have the words, I stumble on the rhyme

You’ll hum a bar or two, I’ll catch the next line

Beyond the words, I hear the love

It’s enough, it’s enough

And if my weathered guitar can make it through another tune

I‘ll be in your key, at least I’ll get there soon

I may not always land the chords, I fumble when I fret

But the harmonies are gold and we’re singing to forget

Beyond the words, I hear the love

It’s enough, it’s enough to see me through

And if our weary hearts can make it through another break

I’ll be at your table, where there’s nothing left to fake

I may muddy any wisdom that flits across my tongue

So, I’ll try to find the song to help our tears along

Beyond the words, I hear the love

It’s enough, it’s enough to see me through

I hear the love

It’s enough, it’s enough to see me through

Another year, another year

You are here

To see me through
