Internment Exhibit Opening, Cave and Basin, Banff
On September 13, 2013, I had the great privilege of taking part in the opening ceremony of the Parks Canada exhibit: Enemy Aliens, Prisoners of War: Canada’s First World War Internment Operations, 1914-1920. I found it deeply moving to sing my song In the Shadow of the Rockies for the descendants of Ukrainian Canadian internees who were attending the ceremony in the very physical place where the Castle Mountain internees had laboured to build the infrastructure of Cave and Basin Hotsprings that we still enjoy today.
The Internment Exhibit Building is located behind the Cave and Basin Hotsprings in Banff National Park. For more information, see Internment Canada’s website:
