Signal Hill

He walked right up on Signal Hill, flashed the world a smile
Took a long time landing back, he's bound to stay a while
Headed out Alberta way, with jobs at home so few
Folks said he'd be settled there before he even knew
McMurray is the kind of town leaves a heart full sore
Pays the bills but spits you out upon an oil sand shore
Down in Red Deer working steel, best job he's ever had
But money is poor comfort for a long distant dad
Who could not close his ears
To the waves that called him home
And he's not the kind can turn his mind
From the place he's always known
Now he's back in Paradise, trying to make ends meet
Built a house upon The Rock, simple but complete
And strangers stop along his road just to view the bay-oh
Tell him he's a lucky man to see it everyday
